Nearly 20 artists took part in the Jaques Art Center’s Plein Air – Aitkin competition this year. The competition ran July 17-20. Besides the winning artists whose works are shown here, the artists also included Pamela Andell, Paul Boecher, Clair Fix, Kristin Grevich, Susan McLean-Keeny, David Rickert and Susan Klem. All prize winners had local sponsors and the competition was also partially funded by the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council with money from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Every winning artist received a cash prize. Local individuals and companies, sponsoring winning paintings included: Paul and Ruth Hauge, Maryann Holder, Betty Soderquist and Kathy Hanlon, Jerry and Cherie Holm, Katherine and Vince Ella, The Jaques Art Center, EyeCare Centers of Aitkin and McGregor, Barden Heft, Kirk Peysar and Susan Ackerman of Sandelands Realty.
