In February of 2013, Ernest Leither opened Ernie’s Computer Service in Onamia.

“It’s already starting to get busy,” Ernie said. “People are seeing the sign, and Paul’s sending me a lot of business.”

Paul Purdes of Isle was one of few options locals had for their computer needs before he decided to roll back his business in the spring of 2013. “Ernie knows what he’s doing,” Purdes said. “He’s good.”

Ernie appreciates the referrals.

Ernie grew up in Eden Valley, and moved to the Mille Lacs area two years ago. “It took me a while to get the house fixed up before I opened the business,” Ernie said. “I asked people where they got their computers fixed, and most of them said they took them up to Brainerd.”

Ernie may lack the fancy wheels of the Geek Squad, but he’s more than capable.

“I got most of my training on the job,” Ernie said.

Ernie worked as a computer tech for Fair Isaac credit service, Deluxe Check, and most recently, Target. “I was one of five guys they could call if Target.com went down,” Ernie said.

“Before all that I was building my own computers and building websites,” Ernie said. “You learn a lot building your own computers.”

Ernie’s Computer Service is located near the corner of Hwy. 27 and Hwy. 169  3 miles north of Onamia, next door to Lundeen’s Tackle Castle. For more information, go to ernie@ernies.biz, or call him at (320) 738-1060.
