Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge will host the third annual Beer and Bacon Bonanza June 14 and 15. The event is open to the public.

“There will be a lot of bacon and beer. I mean a lot,” Ruttger’s President Chris Ruttger said. “It will not be a great weekend to be a vegetarian or on a diet, but it’ll be worth every calorie.”

Friday, June 14: live pig races at 5 p.m. from Leader, Minn., and games. A free moonlight movie night showing of “Footloose,” (rated PG) at 9 p.m. Dress in 80s garb. When Kevin BACON eats, eat bacon. When he drinks, drink beer.

Saturday, June 15: beer and bacon games from 2-4 p.m. Games include: pork belly flop contest, “Mr. Bacon Beauty Pageant,” and the “Beer and Bacon Mile Relay.” There will be craft beer tasting from 4-6 p.m. A “Pignic” will be held from 6-7 p.m. which includes pork, pork and more pork. The menu will include brats from Wildcraft Meats, hand-produced in Aitkin. The “Tail Gunners” will perform classic rock and country songs from 7-9:30 p.m.

The public can purchase a “whole hog pass” that admits them into all events, plus the PIGnic feast. For more information and complete details about Ruttger’s Beer and Bacon Bonanza, call 800-450-4545 or go to
