Although rain and storms dampened several of the planned events at the annual Aitkin Flyers wild rice pancake breakfast, it didn’t dampen the spirits of those attending. “There was a sunshine attitude out here today,” said Jackie Brix, president of the Aitkin Flyers. There were still an ample number of vintage cars and specialty aircraft on hand and the breakfast, lunch turnout was great.

Brix added, “Considering the weather, this was a very successful event. Pilots from the cities were grounded so some of the vintage aircraft were unable to be on the grounds. The kids’ hanger, drone demonstrations and helicopter rides were a hit. I was so impressed with the people and the atmosphere. When it started to rain, everyone pitched in to move equipmaent into hangers.”
