Mary White will hold a beginner’s class in pastels at The Jaques Art Center on Saturday, Feb. 18, 11 a.m.-12:30 pm.
White will explain the pastels, materials, different papers and surfaces, strokes and blending and layouts, giving the student the opportunity to work with the pastel before actually doing a painting.
You will then continue with a still-life setup in which you will use the techniques learned to create your painting. Everyone will work on the same still-life setup; but can use your own creativity in using the pastels. All supplies will be provided
White shared “In my pastel experience, It was hit and miss because I never learned the basic techniques ... and when I took a pastel class in the area, it’s assumed that we knew how to draw the landscape or still life or a different subject. Having the basics gives one the confidence to get creative and know what will and won’t work.”
Class size is limited – Call the center to enroll at 218-927-2363. The cost of the class is supplemented by the Janice Hasselius/Mary Louise Johnson Art Education Fund.
Register for this pastel class by calling 218-927-2363. Class size limited.
