Aicota Director of Nursing Sara McCormick summed up the reason for last week’s picnic when she said, “We try to get the residents outside every time we get a chance. Summer is so short!”
The picnic at Aicota Health Care Center coincided with what is becoming a monthly tradition of featuring locally grown and sourced foods at the center. This month the picnic featured burgers made from grassfed beef raised at Chengwatana Farm in Palisade and grilled outdoors by Food Service Director Priscilla Bloom. Watermelon and sweet corn rounded out the menu.
Residents, staff and volunteers are all needed to make sure each resident who wishes to go outside for lunch gets there. They serve meals, assist residents and make sure everyone is having a good time.
