What is almost 70 years old and still in use at Aitkin High School?

Believe it or not, the choirs are still using robes that were used by students in the 1950s. Repairs have been made to the robes through the years, but they have reached their “repairability” ceiling.

The Aitkin Education Foundation (AEF) has taken on a fundraising effort to replace 75 robes and garment bags at $150 per robe. That’s $11,250 that is needed.

“It sounded like a great idea,” said AEF member Scott Turner. “It made sense to fund-raise for this because it fits into the AEF mission.”

Donations are tax deductible and can be mailed to the Aitkin Education Foundation, 306 2nd St. NW, Aitkin, MN 56431.

“Aitkin High School has a decades-long history of quality vocal music,” said Wes Hoppe, AEF president. “Our students excel at their concerts, their spring music contests and the annual musical each spring. Please consider supporting this project.  Your donation will benefit students today and for decades to come.”
