Thirty-one schools participated in the Northern Minnesota Mathematics Contest, Oct. 23, at Bemidji State University. Aitkin students grades nine and ten placed third overall in Class A. Jacob Stanley was the top student in the lower division, answering 32 of the 40 math problems correctly. Johnathon Woodworth placed 49th and Alan Gruhlke was 53rd. Other Aitkin students participating in the lower division included Josh Lindgren, Derrick Stiernagle, Connor Rose, Royce Kramer, Syndee Morris, and Eli Christy.

In the upper division, grades 11 and 12, which had 320 students in the competition, Aitkin finished in the middle of the pack. Participants included Enrico Demetto, James Much, Cinneididh McIintosh, Reagan Wilson, Jordin Graham, Bailey Reisewitz, Nyssa Schultz, and Kendra Gruhlke.
