Blackrock Buddies

Blackrock Buddies offers intergenerational activities to children and residents.

Kids Club recently visited the residents at the Blackrock Terrace Apartments

The new group “Blackrock Buddies” and is funded by the Northland Foundation Age to Age grant.

In July, volunteer residents and 15 Kids Club children enjoyed participating in an intergenerational activity by creating story quilts, said Kids Club coordinator Bobbi Jo Bourassa.

“The residents jumped right in by having conversations and helping the kids. It was a good atmosphere to see the kids in,” Bourassa said. “It will be another connection in the community between the older generation and the kids.”

The next Blackrock Buddies visit is on July 23. Any child enrolled in Kids Club may participate.

Kids Club also has a garden which is funded through Age to Age. Children will be growing and harvesting produce from the garden to hold a mini farmers market for the residents at Blackrock Terrace in the future.
