Representative Sondra Erickson, R-Princeton, is encouraging college-bound students to apply for workforce development scholarships this year. The scholarships may be worth as much $2,500 or more and will help students pursue careers in high-demand occupations in Minnesota. The scholarships are made possible by a $7 million appropriation from the Legislature.

“Minnesota is facing a shortage of skilled workers that are needed for high demand jobs across the state,” said Representative Erickson. “These workforce development scholarships will help provide students with the financial means necessary to pursue employment in one of several well-paying careers. I was proud to support these scholarships and strongly encourage students to apply.”

The scholarships are for students pursuing careers within advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care services, information technology, early childhood education, and transportation at any of the 30 state colleges of Minnesota State.

Dozens of scholarships are still available for Fall 2019. Interested students should contact the admissions or financial aid office at Minnesota State colleges to learn more about these or other scholarship and financial aid opportunities. Additional information is available at
