Alfred E. Kingsley, 89, Palisade died Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence.

He was born June 5, 1930 in Bain Township, Aitkin County to Edgar L. and Georgiana Pearl Eria (Knapp) Kingsley. He was a member of the Army National Guard and was called to active duty, serving in the Korean War. Alfred was united in marriage to Thelma M. Landrus on Feb. 28, 1953 in Aitkin. He worked many jobs including: farming, logging, construction, Woodland Container, at the local filling station, Northtown Chrysler-Dodge, and for various water and sewer construction companies in the Twin Cities area. Alfred was an avid hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling, riding ATV side by side, and reading Western books. He was a longtime member of the Operating Engineer Union Local #49 and the Labor Union Local #563, the NRA, and Hilltop Chapel. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin, four brothers, and four sisters.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Thelma, Palisade; children: Susan (Jack) Plattner, Twin Valley; Russell Kingsley (Sandy Gruhlke), Palisade; Debbie (John) Chute, Aitkin; Rick Kingsley, Palisade; Lee (DeeAnn) Kingsley, Delano; daughter-in-law, Connie Kingsley, Brainerd; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Kingsley, Emily; grandchildren: Chad (Melissa) Plattner, Dawn Plattner (Brody Geiselman), Jeff (Kelsi) Plattner, Josh (Molly) Kingsley, Jacob Kingsley, Manny (Karla) Kingsley, Alanna (Zak) Brust, Kyle (Monique) Kingsley, Leah Kingsley, Derek Kingsley (Amber Bourassa), Eva (Jeff) Widder, Thomas (Casey) Chute, Sarah (Elias) Peterson, Austen Hinks, Krista Kingsley; 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Journey North Church, Aitkin. Reverend Barry Hite and Reverend Charles Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Waukenabo Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Aitkin American Legion Lee Post #86 and Aitkin VFW Roberts-Glad Post #1727.
