Blanche Ida Samuelson, 89, Aitkin, formerly of Lakeside Township, Aitkin County, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at Aicota Health Care Center, Aitkin.

Ida was born July 16, 1930 in Round Lake Township of Jackson County, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Ida (Bastman) Voss. She moved with her family to Lakeside Township near Isle at the age of 12. She attended the Eastwood School. She married Wilbur Samuelson on Nov. 9, 1945 at Lakeside Township of Aitkin County. They lived various places and then moved to Brainerd in the early 1950s. In 1959 they returned to Lakeside Township and made their home on the Samuelson homestead. She and her husband operated a beef and dairy farm for many years. She retired from farming in 1993 when her husband Wilbur passed away. She also had worked at the Isle Bakery for many years and the Cenex Deli. She was a member of the Malmo Evangelical Free Church in Malmo and volunteered at the Anne Remers Day Care. She loved spending time with her family and providing what she could for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by children and spouses: Marcia and Phil Heppner, Warroad, Minn.; David and Elana (Loni) Samuelson, Isle; Joanne (Joey) and Dan McGuire, Aitkin; Linda and David Burright, Jones, Okla.; brother, Lonnie Voss, Milaca; sister, June Nickel, Bruce, Wis.; three granddaughters; nine grandsons; 18 great-granddaughters; 10 great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter and numerous other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Malmo Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Glenn Browning officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Opstead Cemetery. Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
