Carol Hanson

Carol Irene Hanson, 77, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019 at her home in McGrath.

Carol was born Dec. 27, 1941 to Earl Marvin and Irene Cylvia (Johnson) Iler in Lansing, Mich. and shortly after they moved back to the family farm in Bock.

Carol attended Milaca Schools and graduated in 1960. Carol worked for the family poultry business when she met and married Ted Hanson. They bought a farm in Mora. Their son “Teddy” was born and three years later a second son Scot, who passed away at only four months old.

Carol and her son Ted Jr. moved to a farm in McGrath where she continued her poultry business and raised horses. Carol opened her home for adult foster care and cared for many residents over the next 35 years.

She met her life partner, Mark, and together they filled their lives with animals they cherished on the farm. Carol remained “The chicken lady” to the very end.

Her enduring compassion for family and friends was a priority in her life. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was loved beyond measure and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
