Laura Mae Lemire Cassady, 92, Aitkin, died Sunday July 19, 2020 at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born Dec. 17, 1927 in Aitkin to Jeremiah Elias and Anna Marie (Pauquette) Lemire. She attended Aitkin Schools and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1946. Laura was united in marriage to Wendell “Bill” W. Cassady on Nov. 6, 1948 in Aitkin. They moved to Spring Lake Park and made their home there for many years until moving back to Aitkin in 2008. She always had part-time jobs to help pay for vacations, vehicles, and family expenses. Besides being a homemaker she worked for Minnesota Rubber and as a home health aide.
She was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church and their women’s circle in Blaine and St. James Catholic Church in Aitkin. Laura was very involved with and loved her family very much. She enjoyed fishing and the outdoors of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Cassady in 2009; grandson Michael; her brothers and sisters; and her parents: Jeremiah and Anna Lemire.
Laura is survived by her children: Jerry and Toni Cassady, Big Stone, S.D.; Rick and Joyce Cassady, Ham Lake; Pat Cassady, Burnsville; Tim and Jill Cassady, Elk River; and John and Lori Cassady, Buffalo; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other special relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church in Aitkin. Father David Forsman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with the Rosary service starting at 7 p.m. on Friday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
