News Director Paul Vold joined KKIN radio in July.

Aitkin radio station KKIN welcomed News Director Paul Vold in July. Paul’s duties include hosting and creating stories for the morning FM show.

KKIN Radio has served the area since 1961. It covers weather, local and Associated Press network news, and sports throughout all of Aitkin County, north to Pine River, northeast to Grand Rapids, south to Mora and Milaca, and the entire Brainerd lakes area.

“My goal is to make the radio more community driven, and keep listeners informed on upcoming events and changes that are relevant to them,” Paul said.

Originating from Byron, Paul graduated from high school in 2012. He went on to attend Southwest Minnesota State University to study communications and obtain a degree in broadcasting and digital media.

After working at a radio station in Marshall for a short period, Paul was hired in June of 2016 as a sports director at KJAM radio station in Madison, SD where he worked for three years broadcasting area football and basketball for high school and college, as well as his favorite, amateur baseball.

In June, Paul and his wife, Sara, moved to Minnesota to be closer to family. The couple both grew up in small towns, and enjoy the community dynamic of the area as well as the many beautiful lakes. In his free time, Paul enjoys playing amateur baseball and going to movies.
