The city of Aitkin police department issued a press release Thursday morning detailing the arrest of Derrick Russell Hoff, 35, and Rebecca Kay Bayliss, 35, on numerous felony charges.
According to the release, the police department and the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Department helped the East Central Drug and Violent Offender Task Force with the arrest of the two July 28 at 117 3rd Ave. S.E. in Aitkin. According to Aitkin Police Chief Tim Catlin, the full criminal complaint was expected later Thursday or Friday, but he confirmed the drug in question was meth.
Hoff was charged with seven felonies, including third-degree possession of a controlled substance (10 grams or more), fourth-degree possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and fifth-degree possession.
Bayliss, meanwhile, was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance (10 grams or more), fourth-degree possession with intent to sell, fifth-degree possession of a control substance and aiding an offender – all felonies.
The press release said that the investigation is ongoing.
