On Sept. 24 at 8:11 a.m., a Minnesota State Patrol trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Chrysler Sebring for a traffic offense north of McGregor in Aitkin County.
The Chrysler would not pull over for the trooper after he activated his lights and siren. The trooper reported two male occupants were in the vehicle. The driver actively attempted to evade the trooper by driving at a high rate of speed and this continued over several miles. The pursuit continued near the city of Palisade where the front seat male passenger exited out of the moving vehicle and fled on foot. The passenger was apprehended a short time later by an Aitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy.
After the passenger exited the Chrysler, the vehicle continued to flee the pursuing trooper. The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Department set up spike strips and the Chrysler ran over it and eventually deflated one of the front tires. The Chrysler finally came to a stop and the adult male driver was taken into custody and transported to the Aitkin County Jail and will be facing numerous charges.
The adult male passenger was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained when he exited the vehicle being pursued.
Additional details, names and vehicle information are not known at this time as statements and reports are currently unavailable.
