Kristy Hoge, a fourth-grade teacher at Rippleside Elementary School in Aitkin and an assistant extra-curriculars coach, has been put on administrative leave after four charges of Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct were brought against her.
According to the criminal complaint, Hoge was involved in a relationship with a female student.
Hoge has been charged with two counts of third degree Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct – Position of Authority and two counts of fourth degree Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct – Victim 16-17 – Position of Authority.
Hoge is scheduled to appear in Aitkin County court June 6. She was booked into the Aitkin County Jail last week and posted bail.
Each of the charges of third degree Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in jail, a $30,000 fine or both.
Each of the charges of fourth degree Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a $20,00 fine or both.
Aitkin Schools Superintendent Bernie Novak said Hoge was put on administrative leave May 3, when the district was made aware of the charges. Novak said the district is not conducting its own investigation.
Jennifer McGuire has filled Hoge’s teaching position indefinitely.
