The Community Culinary Corps Project and its army of slow cookers stopped by Aitkin on Jan. 12 for tacos at Sampaguita.
“Solidarity, not charity,” it said in big blue bubble letters on the CCCP flier.
CCCP offers free community meals and describes itself as, “a grassroots, volunteer, mutual aid effort rooted in fighting food insecurity.”
During the meal, CCCP also offered free toiletries such as toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Volunteer Hannah Cook noted that the organization usually offers harm reduction items too.
“CCCP is about building solidarity within our community, not charity between individuals,” explained its flier. “Our greatest defense against hardships and systemic oppression is to come together in solidarity with one another as people.”
