Application for Century Farm deadline March 4

Minnesota families who have owned their farms for 100 years or more are invited to apply for the 2019 Century Farm Program. Produced by the Minnesota State Fair in conjunction with the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation, the Century Farm Program was created to promote agriculture and honor historic family farms in the state. More than 10,500 Minnesota farms have been honored since the program began in 1976.

New minimum-wage rate effective Jan. 1

Minnesota’s minimum-wage rates will be adjusted for inflation beginning Jan. 1 to $9.86 an hour for large employers and $8.04 an hour for other state minimum wages. An estimated 219,000 hourly workers in Minnesota (not including jobs in Minneapolis) will earn the $9.86 or $8.04 state minimum-wage rates.

Attorney General Lori Swanson sues Comcast/Xfinity

Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson today filed a lawsuit against Comcast Corporation/Xfinity for charging customers more than it promised for cable television packages, charging for unordered equipment and services, and not delivering prepaid Visa cards promised in its promotions.

State Canvassing Board Certifies Results of 2018 General Election

Secretary of State Steve Simon convened the State Canvassing Board to review the canvas report for the 2018 General Election and certify the results. In addition to judicial and state legislative offices, the board certified the election results of Minnesota’s constitutional officers and election results for two U.S. Senate races and eight U.S. House of Representative contests.

MnDOT releases updated 10-year Capital Highway Investment Plan
