DNR Enforcement report

• CO Taylor Hochstein (Hill City) focused efforts on patrolling the lakes for boating and angling activity over the holiday weekend. Overall law compliance was good with only minor issues having to be addressed. Time was also spent at Camp Ripley assisting with officer water survival training for the cadets at the Academy.

• CO Bob Mlynar (Aitkin) assisted the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office with ATV and watercraft accidents involving driving under the influence. Watercraft, invasive species and ATV activity was worked throughout the week.

• CO Gregory Verkuilen (Garrison) worked lake activity. Several contacts with PWC operators who claimed ignorance of Minnesota PWC-specific regulations. Lack of boating lights and PFDs were also common. Verkuilen also assisted with enforcement and traffic flow at state parks.

• CO Ashley Whiteoak (Malmo) spent time maintaining and delivering equipment, working on office work, following up on calls, and helping with training at the CO Academy at Camp Ripley.

• CO Tony Flerlage (Crosby) spent time getting familiar with the new station. Most boaters were operating safely. A small number of boaters needed reminders of the laws on the water. Many anglers were having success catching panfish.
