“Old stomping grounds”
Posted: January 31, 2019

Well folks, Aaron and I headed to McGregor last Saturday night as the AWF came to town for a wrestling card to benefit the Mercs athletic programs. It was an enjoyable evening, of course. We had great seats, thanks to my good friends, Lisa and Mike Kruse.

Recognize and celebrate
Posted: January 16, 2019

Well folks, it’s been a busy last couple of weeks in high school sports and other events. There isn’t much of a slow-down this week. Friday brings about one of my favorite evenings of the winter season. The Aitkin Gobbler girls have a home game and they have announced it will include a celebration of firemen, law enforcement and veterans. Those wonderful people who are involved in those courageous organizations will be reminded of the appreciation we all have for them and how special they are. I hope we have a great turnout for this great evening. Don’t forget, there will be a basketball game as well. Come on out and enjoy a fun night at the Aitkin High School gym.

A change of routine
Posted: January 11, 2019

Well folks, it’s finally back to a regular routine after the holidays. In case I forgot anything, let’s bring you up to date. I hope I mentioned Isaac Collins second “300” just before Christmas, but if I didn’t, I will now. Nice going, Isaac. Also, Ashley Collins fired a pair of “600’s” before the break. I know I haven’t mentioned that Nick Harmon finally threw his first perfect game at the end of 2018. Congratulations Nick it was a long time coming, but you finally did it.

Christmas reflection
Posted: December 27, 2018

Well folks, it was 69 years ago last Monday. In the early morning, a hotel and the business inside it were burning to the ground on the site where the post office sits today. Across town at Mrs. Draper’s hospital, Sonny and Gladys were welcoming their little boy into the world.
