the Aitkin Gobbler football team is off and running with wins over Denfeld 58-0 and last week 28-0 over Greenway, both on the road. This week they finally get a home game, hosting 0-2 Virginia at Veterans Field Friday night. The Blue Devils have lost two straight by combined scores of 94-20 to Rush City and Esko, both at home.
The Gobblers have played extremely well on both sides of the ball in their two wins and got points from the special teams as well. The home fans are eager to get a couple of home games the next two weeks with Moose Lake/Willow River in town a week from Friday. Next week’s opponents, the Rebels, are also 2-0 going into their game this week at home against the Broncos of International Falls, with a 2-0 start under their belt, so that is a big game early in this season.
It was a big series last weekend for the Twins and Indians at Target Field. Another one looms this weekend between the two teams in Cleveland. The Central Division isn’t settled yet and both teams have less than 20 games to go. You would think the Twins have an advantage, but with Cleveland you never know. We just have to keep playing good baseball and the rest will take care of itself. Playoff baseball is coming up in October and let’s hope the Twins are a part of it. Don’t stop now, guys!
Barb and I would like to send our appreciation to everyone for the support over the past three weeks with both our health issues. Looks like we are on the mend and I have your thoughts and prayers to thank for it.
