Jordan Paquette scored 23 points, 19 of them in a strong second half as the McGregor Mercs girls basketball team scored a nice 51-38 win over Silver Bay on Jan. 6 in McGregor.

They jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first half, but were down at the break. They played a great second half.

The win was a big one for the Mercs, who moved their record to 3-7 with the victory.

Coach Amy Hawkinson was excited, “We couldn’t buy a basket in the first half hitting just 5% of our shots but Paquette got hot in the second half and we picked up our defensive play. She is a great leader for our young team. We dominated the boards as well.”

Ava Smith had a good game underneath scoring nine points while Courtney Gauthier, Paige Dean and Emma Henderson each had four, Josee Kellermann had three and Violet Brekke and Addi Sather each had two points.
