The McGregor Mercury girls dropped a 44-30 decision at Braham, Dec. 2. After falling behind 14-8, the Mercs rallied behind Hailey Maas, Kiana Hawkinson and Jordan Paquette to close the margin to 16-5 late in the first quarter. However, a 6-0 run by the Bombers gave the home team a 22-15 lead at the break.

Braham built a 10-point lead early in the second period. McGregor narrowed the margin to seven points, but an 11-0 run was too much for the Mercs to overcome. Although team rebounds were even at 35, Braham’s defense forced 35 Merc turnovers.

Maas finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds; Hawkinson and Paquette added 5 points each while Maddie DeMenge and Josee Kellerman had 2 points apiece. DeMenge also grabbed 9 rebounds.
