Isaiah Serfling (45) got in on the action for the Mercs.

It took the number one seeded South Ridge Panthers only one play to get on the scoreboard, and after a Merc fumble on their first series, South Ridge scored a second time, quickly taking a 16-0 lead en route to a 49-20 victory over McGregor at a neutral site at Esko, Nov. 1.

The Panthers were unstoppable, increasing the margin to 22-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Mercs scored their first touchdown in the second quarter on an eight-play, 40-yard drive, with Drew Dean plunging into the end zone from the two-yard line.

The Panthers added two more touchdowns in the second period, taking a 36-6 halftime lead.

McGregor’s second touchdown came in the third quarter when Willie Glunz connected with Ethan Bohn for 36 yards, setting up a Glunz 5-yard touchdown. The Mercs final touchdown came after a Glunz to Colton Anderson pass before Bohn scored from seven yards out. Jacob Metzen converted the PAT, but the game was out of reach for the Mercs, who finished with a 5-5 record.McGregor       0    6    6    8    20
