INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 882 MONTICELLO, MINNESOTA REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING The Monticello Board of Education held their school board meeting on Monday, September 10, 2018, at 6:15 p.m. at the Middle School Board Room. Board Members: Jill Bartlett, Candace Carda, Melissa Curtis, Melissa (Missy) Hanson, Jennifer Lewis Kannegieter, Jeff Hegle, and Eric Olson, Superintendent Also present: District Administrators and community guests. Call to Order Board Chair Jill Bartlett called the meeting to order at 6:15pm. 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Consent Agenda Approval of Minutes Special Board Meeting, August 20, 2018 Consideration of Bills, Receipts Personnel Matters General Fund $ 386,240.25 Total Bills $ 970,610.47 Total Payroll $3,148,170.31 Approved by: Melissa Curtis Seconded by Jennifer Lewis Kannegieter motion carried. Approved 6-0 6. Presentation of Donations to the District Eric Olson, Superintendent A. $ 1,000 from Monticello Lions Club for Choose Kindness Project at Eastview B. $500.00 from Anonymous Donor for the Choose Kindness Project at Eastview Total Donations $48,231.00 Approved by: Jennifer Lewis Kannegieter Seconded by Missy Hanson motion carried. Approved 6-0 7. Presentation of 2017-18 MCA Results Linda Borgerding, Pinewood Elementary Principal shared the districts MCA-III and MTAS-lll 2018 testing trends and building testing highlights. 8. North Star Reporting - Linda Borgerding, Pinewood Elementary Principal presented information on the new North Start Reporting Accountability System, a three-stage system that is designed to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the States Worlds Best Workforce Law (WBWF). 9. School Spotlight High School Principal Mike Carr reported the 9th Grade Respect Retreat was well attended, and this year their school is Promoting a Culture of Respect. Changes this year included student assigned parking spots and the new Raptor ID Security System. Middle School Principals Jeff Scherber and Matt Coalwell reported changes this year included a new schedule system and combing physical education with a health class. Additionally, they have had discussions with students on School Safety and are promoting scaling back and not pushing homework on Wednesday nights. 10. Enrollment Projections- Tina, Director of Business Services, presented the first week of Enrollment numbers and projections for the 2018-19 school year. She reported it is still early and she will have better numbers in October. 11. Food Service Request This school year the Eastview kitchen staff will not have the additional help from the Connect 5 students and will be serving an additional 20 students. Tina Burkholder, Director of Business Services, requested an additional 30 minutes be added to two cooks helpers at Eastview Education Center kitchen.
