They had fun
Even though their season was interrupted several times this fall, first by starting late, then with pandemic followed by a season-ending edict from the Minnesota governor, the Isle High volleyball team, including their four seniors Tommi Spengler, Cece Carlson, Megan VanBuskirk and Isabelle Krawiecki, pictured above, managed to produce two wins among the six matches they played and kept good team morale throughout the tough times.
Mille Lacs snowbirds, Mary Ellen and husband Lloyd Pogatchnik, recorded aces on par three’s since making their way to their winter quarters in Mission, Texas, this fall. Mary Ellen got her very first hole-in-one on Nov. 20 at Howlin Trails Golf Course, in Mission, using a 3-wood on the 126-yard hole. Lloyd mentioned how he and his bride had to provide a lot of “refreshments” for their Texas friends in celebration of Mary’s special event. Two weeks earlier than his wife’s hole-in-one, Lloyd aced a par 3 at the same course, but this one was worth $500 for Lloyd’s pocketbook. Lloyd is a member of the Old Fellow’s Golf League that tee’s it up ever Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer at Izatys Golf Resort.
