County levy passed
The Mille Lacs County Board of Commissioners passed their 2021 levy with an increase of 4.9% on Dec. 15.
At the regular council meeting last week, the Wahkon City Council welcomed Jacob Weinreich as head of the town’s maintenance staff. Jacob is taking over for his dad who held that position for the past 24 years.

Sweater weather
Nyquist Elementary students Noah Borg, Kenley Kohlgraf, Addison Mattick, Destiny Jay, Audrina Uhlenkott, Margaret Sunderman, and Brooke Larson all wore their ugly sweaters for the school’s Holiday Dress Up event. “Ugly Sweaters” were just one theme featured throughout the week, others including “White Out,” “Christmas Characters,” and “Spirit Day.”

Internship of a lifetime
Megan Miller, an Isle High School grad and current Concordia College (Moorhead) student majoring in political science, who plans to attend law school, spent the summer in DC in an internship with the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General.
Muskie catch(es) of a lifetime
Benjamin Knutson, owner of Minnesota Angling Adventures Guide Service, also caught this giant sizing up at 53.25” x 28.5” back to back with the other muskie.
Catch(es) of a lifetime on Mille Lacs!
Benjamin Knutson, owner of Minnesota Angling Adventures Guide Service, reeled in two whopper Muskies back to back on Mille Lacs in late November, sizing up 56.5” x 27” and pictured above. The other muskie sized up at 53.25” x 28.5”. See page 18 for the other muskie Knudson caught.
