Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported that the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division executed a search warrant on June 16 as a result of an ongoing investigation into the sale and distribution of marijuana wax in Crow Wing County.
James Clayton Kalk, 21, of Brainerd, was arrested as a result of the search warrant.
During the search agents located nearly five pounds of marijuana wax with an estimated street value of $150,000. Evidence recovered at the scene showed a large scale operation of the marijuana wax.
“Marijuana wax is a relatively new product which is made from raw marijuana but is far more potent,” Dahl said. It does not appear the marijuana wax was being made here. We believe it was shipped to the residence where it was being prepared to be sold. Nearly five pounds of marijuana wax is a very large amount since this product is normally sold on the street by the gram.”
LADID was assisted in the investigation and warrant by the Brainerd Police Department and the Minneapolis Airport Police.
