Onamia Depot Library History Club meeting

Mille Lacs County Deputies Jason LaSart and Kent Larson, and Onamia Police Officer Robert Matzke.

The cops were out in full force last week at the Depot Library which played host to Onamia’s Area History Club.

Law enforcement from Onamia and Mille Lacs County reflected on “then and now,” shared inside stories and held lively discussions as Part II of a program entitled “Law Enforcement in Mille Lacs County.”

Besides some local residents, other contributors included two generations of the Milton family, Bruce II and Bruce III, which has played an active role in maintaining law and order on national, state and county levels for almost eight decades.

Local historian and journalist Joe Fellegy (currently a resident of Baxter, Minn.) also shared law enforcement memories centered around “The Big Lake.”
