Memorial Day 2020

Social distancing was not a problem on Memorial Day when members of the Onamia Veterans Color Guard and Rifle Squad, along with local Pastor Joe Boeringa, songstress Kim Stott and trumpet player Bob Statz gathered at the Veterans and Catholic cemeteries in Onamia for brief, outdoor ceremonies to honor the deceased veterans. Because of the virus pandemic issue plaguing the state and nation, most veterans ceremonies were canceled this past May 25, but Onamia veterans organizations decided to go forward with a semi-private ceremony at both grave sites since the program could be carried out with ample social distancing and a group that numbered in a safe range of between 10 and 12 people.
