Red, white and blue were the featured colors in various Fourth of July celebrations around area lakes last week.

Onamia kicked off the long holiday weekend with their annual Third of July celebration that included a 4-wheeler parade, food booths, a street dance and fireworks.

The town of Hillman, with a population of less than 100, typically grows to huge numbers every Fourth of July when thousands show up to witness the annual mid-day parade which this year hosted over 70 units.

Glen held a parade on the morning of the Fourth, and a parade and festivities capped off with evening fireworks occurred in McGrath.

During the evening of the Fourth, fireworks could also be seen and heard in the towns of Wahkon and Garrison.

And for the fourth year in a row, BayView Bar and Grill on Mille Lacs’ south shore hosted an impromptu golf cart and 4-wheeler parade on Saturday, July 6. The parade drew 54 units that journeyed up and back along Mazomanie Point. Also featured was a dunk booth which raised over $900 for the “Wounded Warriors” campaign.
