Medical resident in Onamia

Dr. Chandra Cherukuri is doing a two week Rural Medical rotation at Mille Lacs Health System, working alongside Dr. Tom Bracken. Dr. Cherukuri is from India, and is a 3rd year resident at the Hennepin County Medical Center’ Family Medical Residency program. Dr. Bracken says Cherukuri has already experienced the busiest call day in a year, drove through a snowstorm to the Hillman clinic, spent time in the ER, and helped Bracken bring a patient home to their residence in Isle because they had no ride. But probably the most interesting thing about his stay so far in the area has been the horse that a patient rode in to the clinic in Hillman. “That was pretty interesting!” said Dr. Cherukuri, “But also I have not seen snow like this, or ever had the experience of going outside and trying to take a deep breath in weather this cold!”
