Zoongaashi Giniwikwe, Francine Wanda Staples, 62-year-old resident of Hinckley, Minnesota, passed away on June 18, 2020, at her residence.
A private funeral ceremony will be held at her residence in Hinckley, Minn. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Onamia, Minn.
Zoongaashi Giniwikwe is survived by her sons, Keith Modglin, Elijah Staples, and Joshua Staples; siblings, Montgomery Staples, Tempy McLain, Denise Chamblin, Melanie Benjamin, Marvin Staples, Dean Staples, Birdie Roberts, Arlene Victor, and Brandon Benjamin; grandchildren, Lindsey Middleton, Kaela Middleton, Caitlin Middleton, Keith Modglin Jr., Aaliyah Davis, Reuben Staples-Gibbs, Elisa Staples, Amelia Ramos, Eric Staples, Vincent Staples, Jasmine Staples, Marlana Staples, Cameron Staples, Caleb Staples, Kingston Staples, Isiah Staples, and Aaron Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Staples and George Staples; brothers, George Staples, Mervin Staples, Arnold “Sonny” Victor; and her grandson, Teddy B. Staples.
Zoongaashi Giniwikwe, Francine Wanda Staples, was born on June 15, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri to Frances and George Staples. She earned an Associates Degree in Carpentry. Francine’s employment included Blackjack supervisor for Grand Casino Hinckley and various positions with the Health and Human Services Department. Francine retired from the HHS department to care for her mother full-time. Francine is known for her beautiful quilts and sewed hundreds every year mainly for ceremonial purposes. Sewing, playing bingo, and gambling at the casino was how she liked to spend her time. Francine made all that knew her laugh with her spontaneous wit. Francine was an outstanding athlete and was a competitive softball player. Francine will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who would do anything to care for those that she loved.
