Amikogaabaw, George James Dorr Jr. 61-year-old resident of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at his residence.
A funeral ceremony was held on Monday, Nov. 25, at the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Community Center on the Mille Lacs Reservation with Lee Staples officiating. Visitation was on Sunday, Nov. 24. Interment was in Woodland Burial Grounds. Arrangements were with the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Onamia.
George is survived by his son, George JohnPaul Dorr; daughter, Devon Alison Dorr; granddaughter, Antaries Dorr; sisters, Glenda Landon, Wanda Navarro, Janice Dorr; brother, Randolph Dorr; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dorr, Sr. and Genevieve Dorr; sisters, Bonnie Dorr, Marina Dorr, Faith Dorr, Elizabeth Dorr, and Rosemary Dorr; brothers, James Dorr, and Ronald Dorr.
Amikogaabaw, George James Dorr Jr. was born on July 15, 1958, in Onamia, Minn., to George Dorr, Sr. and Genevieve Dorr. He attended and graduated from Elk River High School where he participated in track and football. George enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He enjoyed boxing and was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He had a strong worth ethic and liked to spend his time working.
