Onamia’s latest retail store, Dollar General, opened its doors on June 28. Located on East Main Street on the site of the former Onamia Lumber Company that burned to the ground 12 years ago, Dollar General adds a polished new store to Onamia’s downtown business community and will provide locals with some much needed amenities. These include some grocery products as the town lost its grocery store over a year ago. Among the basic grocery goods available are milk, bread, canned goods and frozen foods. Fresh produce will not be available in the store. The store will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, July 14. The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag with complimentary product samples, among other giveaways.
