On Thursday afternoon, May 2, deputies with the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office identified a 40-year-old Isle man with outstanding warrants for arrest in the yard of a residence along West Main Street in Isle, according to an Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office incident report. The man reportedly fled, leading to an hours long chase through the swampland surrounding Father Hennepin State Park. He was eventually found and arrested at a nearby property.
The report indicates the pursuit lasted several hours and included a state patrol fixed wing aircraft, DNR boat and the Mille Lacs County K-9 unit. At one point during the pursuit, the Isle man was reportedly observed swimming across the bay to Father Hennepin State Park and entering another swamp.
The man was eventually apprehended, after he was located hiding in a nearby home to which he had access.
Charges against the 40-year-old man include one misdemeanor count of fleeing a peace officer by means other than vehicle and one misdemeanor count of obstructing legal process. No court date was available as of press time.
