A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle on Monday, July 1 northeast of Isle on Hwy. 18 at 260th Avenue in the early morning hours.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the vehicle, a 2016 Ram pickup driven by 46-year-old Chad Sorenson, of Esko, and a 15-year-old bicycle rider were both west bound Hwy. 18. The Ram pickup rear ended the bicycle which was traveling in the traffic lane. The bicyclist was wearing dark clothing and the bike had no reflectors or rear red lights. The vehicle braked and swerved to avoid the bicycle but still made contact with the rear of the bike.

The bicyclist was sent to the Mille Lacs Health System hospital in Onamia with injuries. The driver of the vehicle sustained no injuries. No alcohol was involved in the accident.
