The story the Messenger broke Wednesday regarding an underage drinking party on the property of Mille Lacs County Attorney Jan Jude and Mille Lacs Tribal Police Investigator Russ Jude will lead to a series of Messenger newspaper and website articles over the next few weeks on underage drinking and the issue of "social hosting."

For now, here are some thoughts and facts about how the story came about — and how it didn't.

Brett Larson is the editor of the Mille Lacs Messenger.

I posted a link to a news story about the city that I currently live. The city of Edmond, Oklahoma has passed an ordinance about social host and underage drinking. These are the kind of laws that need to be in place to protect our children from ADULTS who are suppose to protect them from this sort of thing, but DO NOT! I certainly hope that the County Attorney will be forced to resign.
