These fish are some unlucky victims of the Justin Morneau fishing tournament. This weekend kicked off the beginning of the ice fishing tournaments this winter with the Justin Morneau Tournament, out of Nitti’s Hunters Point, and KJ’s Ice Jam, out of KJ’s Ice Fishing. Winners of the Justin Morneau tournament were Blake Schibonski with a 6.38-pound walleye, Joe Jerhoff with a 5.7-pound northern and Erik Carlson with a 1.96-pound perch. 

Fishing for a cause

The Justin Morneau Fishing Tournament out of Hunters Nitti’s Point was held on Saturday with proceeds benefiting the United Heroes League. A number of prizes were given out including a Polaris 4-wheeler to Drew Williams, along with a number of other prizes and gift cards.

KJ’s Ice Jam

For the past 13 winters, Mille Lacs fishing guide Kris-Jon Jacobson has sponsored his “KJ’s Ice Jam,” a fishing contest and weekend party featuring live bands and thousands of dollars in prizes. Five 100-dollar prizes for walleye caught during the contest went to Paul Dornfeld of Princeton, Jake Golombowski of Onamia, Mike Nelson of Lino Lakes, Travis Sobana of Rice, and Dustin Sobana of Milaca.
