10:30 - 11:30 a.m.: GPS & Geocaching for Beginners

Learn about GPS and the sport of Geocaching. Bring your own GPS unit or use one of ours. Canceled in case of rain.

Thursday, July 25:

9:30 Kathio, A Bird’s-eye View

Climb the 100-foot tower for a spectacular view and look at various points of interest. Canceled in case of strong wind or storm. Time length of the program will depend on how many attend. Meet at the base of the Observation Tower.

Friday, July 26:

10 a.m. - noon: Fishing Fridays

Let’s go fishing! Learn all about fishing – identifying species, casting and more. Poles, bait and instructors provided. Minnesota residents do not need a fishing license for this activity. Canceled in case of thunderstorms.

Saturday, July 27:

10:30 - 11:30 a.m.: Turtles & Snakes

A talk about snakes and turtles in the area and a visit from Shellby the turtle and Corny the snake.

2 - 2:45 p.m.: Kids’ Program: Barking Up the Right Tree

Learn how craftspeople of the ancient Kathio villages used tree bark for many purposes…and take home a small “souvenir” you make yourself. This activity is designed for kids age 7-plus, but all ages are welcome!

Sunday, July 28:

10:30 - 11:15 a.m.: Two Little Owls

A talk about Minnesota’s owl species and the characteristics that make them great hunters followed by the nature film Two Little Owls.

All activities meet at the Interpretive Center.

10 a.m. - noon: Wetlands We Need Them!

Let’s go fishing! Join us as we learn all about fishing — identifying species, casting, and more. Poles, bait and the instructor provided. Sunday, July 28:

10:30 - 11:15 a.m.: Kids Activity: Nocturnal Wildlife BINGO

Learn about area wildlife that are active at night, while trying to get a Bingo to win a cool prize. Meet at the Enclosed Lakeview Picnic Shelter.
