The Barnum Bombers, ranked 61st in the state, paid a visit to the 109st ranked Isle Huskies on Jan. 9. The Huskies paid no attention to the disparity in ranking, giving the Bombers a real battle throughout, before bowing, 68-62.
Thanks in part to the hot hand of Lucas Gross who put up 16 first-half points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer, Isle took a 3-point lead by intermission.
Midway through the second half, Isle had built their lead to nine points, but two minutes later, the score was tied. From then on, the game was either tied or the lead changed a total of 11 times.
Barnum ended up shooting 35 percent from the field and made good on 20 of 26 shots from the free-throw line. Isle shot 39 percent from the field and was 17-19 from the line.
Gross finished the game with 29 points. Four Barnum players accounted for 62 of their 68 points.

The Isle Huskies stayed with the Upsala Cardinals throughout the first half, but, as they have done quite a few times this season, they went cold during the second period and lost, 71-55. Lucas Gross and Teagen Haggberg combined for 31 of Isle 55 points.
