Miss versatility

Onamia junior Kailee Barnett plays every minute of every game for the Panthers in her roles in the front as a hitter and back-court in serve-receive.

The Onamia Panthers volleyball team brought their overall record (not including tournament play) to 5-1 with wins over East Central and Swanville last week.

East Central

The Onamia Panthers barely worked up a sweat in beating the conference rival East Central Eagles in straight sets.

Led by MaKayla Balder with six, Lily Orazem, Krissy Dahl and Kailee Barnett combined for 17 kills over three games.

Onamia had an amazing number of good set assists with 52, including 12 by Balder and seven from Ashley Rogers.

Balder and Ashley Strang combined for nine aces from the service line.

Swanville

The Onamia Panthers welcomed the Swanville Bulldogs to their gym for a non-conference match on Sept. 19.

A look at the final statistics of the match won by Onamia, 3-1, shows complete dominance by the Panthers.

Despite nine ties in game one, Onamia got six kills from Lily Orazem and four aces from their servers to put the game away.

Onamia built a 23-6 lead in game two thanks in part to nine points off the serve of Roxann Emerson, leading to a 25-14 rout.

Sloppy play by Onamia in game three gave the set to Swanville, but set four was all Panthers who built an 18-2 lead highlighted by 12 straight points off the serve of 8th-grader Ashley Strang.

Onamia finished the match with 44 kills compared to 17 by Swanville.Lily Orazem, Kailee Barnett and MaKayla Balder combined for 33 of the 44 kills for the Panthers. Onamia recorded 19 aces to three by the Bulldogs.
