OHS Football - AJ Drift

Good hands

Sophomore AJ Drift has been a force on offense and defense so far this year for the Onamia Panthers.

The Ogilvie Lions celebrated their homecoming on Sept. 20 with a 52-0 rout of the visiting Onamia Panthers.

The game was a one-sided affair in every respect from the first to the very last seconds. The Panthers fumbled away the opening kick return right into the hands of Ogilvie’s Beau Burk who scampered 40 yards to the end zone to make it 6-0 just 13 second into the game.

From then on, except for having three drives interrupted by interceptions from Onamia’s Brady Husom, Nick Ecker and AJ Drift, Ogilvie scored touchdowns on all eight of their possessions, including a score with just 20 seconds left.

Meanwhile, Onamia’s 10 offensive series ended in two fumbled away, two interceptions and six punts.

The final statistics point to the mismatch on the field that night. Ogilvie piled up 613 total yards of offense, including 401 on the ground and 212 through the air, with Burk rushing for 92 yards and catching eight passes for 97 yards.

Onamia finished with 58 total yards of offense and did not have the ball during entire fourth period of running time.

Another negative for Onamia was the fact that, by game’s end, both their first and second string quarterbacks were on the sideline with injuries, along with several other key starters.
