The Onamia boys basketball team’s over-all record stood at 7-12 following a win over non-conference Verndale and a loss to conference foe Isle last week.


The Onamia Panthers welcomed the Verndale Pirates to their gym for a non-conference game on Feb. 4.

The Panthers took a commanding 18-point lead over the Pirates in the first half, then closed the game out holding the visitors to just four field goals during the second period to capture their seventh win of the season, 67-36.

Brandon Nickaboine, Josh Parrow and Cayden Eagle combined for 52 of Onamia’s 69 points.

The teams combined for 16 3-pointers.

The Onamia Panthers hosted the Isle Huskies in the second scheduled game of the season between the two cross-county rivals on Feb. 6.

Isle won in a close contest, 55-51.
