On the evening of Thursday, Jan. 5 the not-quite-full moon hung in a sky of color only seemingly possible when the cold is settled in. The next morning brought hoarfrost across the region, named for the way the white crystals seem to hang on trees like a beard. Friday, Jan. 6 also played host to the full moon.
