Aitkin area artist Duane Barnhart will offer a watercolor painting class Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Jaques Art Center in Aitkin. The step-by-step workshop begins at 12 noon and ends at 3 p.m. All materials and supplies will be furnished by the art center.

In school, Barnhart was one of those artsy kids who doodled all of the time and is now an award winning artist. “I have always loved the way that watercolor paintings seem to glow and give off an energy of their own. I love to paint landscapes on location (en Plein air) and my favorite of all is painting waterfalls,” he said.

Barnhart brings his art and teaching skills to this class on painting beautiful Minnesota waterfalls using watercolor paints. Participants will learn how to capture the lights and darks (values) and easy ways to paint the trees, rocks and rivers. Barnhart welcomes all levels of skill and looks forward to sharing the fun and joy of creating unique paintings. Space is limited - call the Jaques Art Center at 218-927-2363 for further details. Barnhart lives and paints at Big Pine Lake south of Aitkin.
